What to Wear to a Trade Show to Look the Part
Whether you are exhibiting or attending, what to wear to a trade show is probably the last thing on your mind. The trade shows that we cater for are predominantly B2B so there will be a strong desire to create a good first impression, and that is dependable on how you present yourself in the first instance. Let’s dive into this blog and explore how to dress for a trade show.
Do trade shows have dress codes?
The general consensus for what to wear to a B2B trade show is something professional that communicates you are approachable all whilst being comfortable. On the day, ensure your shoes are smart, sensible and clean but not too tight and your clothes fit well, are ironed/pressed and immaculate.
You can get away with being more casual and injecting more of your personality in B2C trade shows because these are all about the image and enticing people who sell to or are part of the general public over to your stand. The goal is to exude personality but still maintain an air of professionalism.
What should you wear to a trade show?
For B2B trade shows, the best garments to wear are: blazers, shirts, smart trousers, smart skirts, sensible heels or smart shoes. In short, anything that springs to mind when you think of a working professional.
It’s best to select smart attire that is relatively plain with no logos visible (unless they are your brand logo). Evidence suggests that busy outfits may distract potential customers and minimise networking opportunities.
Likewise, you could accessorise with a tie, cufflinks or delicate jewellery. Remember, you want to look casual enough to be approachable and professional enough that you look trustworthy. If you do opt for the accessories, ensure they are relatively simple to avoid distraction.
